DB LODGE 29 JANUARY MINUTES: President Michael Nielsen opened the January meeting at 7:32pm with pledge of allegiance and 30 members in attendance. A moment of silence was held in memory of long time member Knud Hansen who passed away in Dec.  Knud moved to Las Vegas many years ago, but kept in contact with friends here in the Seattle area.

Role call:  all officers were present except Conductor Chuck Larsen

Minutes:  The December minutes were accepted as printed in our Dec. newsletter

Treasurers report was accepted as presented, and the Trustees signed off that the books were in good order. The Lodge thanked Flemming for his 11 years serving as Treasurer—he is officially turning over his duties to his wife Lexie, who will be installed later this month.

Correspondence.  Thank you letters was received from Karen Bruun, Elmer Wittman, Edith Kilgren, and Cornelius Jensen for the poinsettias our members delivered to our mature members. Also, a thank you from Einar Olsen who lives quite far from Seattle, due to scheduling problems, he suggested it could be delivered to someone who lives closer, so his plant was given to Ingeborg Kisbye who lives at Foss Home. Thank you, Einar.  Thank you letters from the Compass Center to whom we had donated last year’s accumulated small pot and Bingo profits and Cocoon House where we donated the leftover Christmas party goodies bags. An invitation to meet the new Executive director Eric Nelson for the Nordic Heritage Museum on Sunday January 13th. From 4-6 PM RSVP to 206-789-5707 X10 Thank you card was received from the Scandinavian Hour Radio KKNW for our donation. Last but not least, the lodge sends a big Thank you to Karen Bruun for her donation for newsletter expenses and to Cornelius Jensen for his very generous donation to Lodge #29.

Committee Report: the Soccer teams start the week of the Jan. 7th. Bowling practices start on the Jan. 6th, See schedule in this issue.  Ellen Rossen reported on the Children’s Christmas party, and discussion was made on how to change the format a little for next year.  The Installation party with other lodges in the Puget Sound area will be on Sat. Jan. 19th --see details elsewhere

New business:  A motion to donate $500.00 to NWDF was made. After a lot of discussion no second was made and the motion was dropped

Good and welfare:  Michael Nielsen thanked the members for letting him serve as President the past three years, and the lodge also thanked Michael for his job well done and gave a big hand for Michael’s service.

Dean Larsen will be our new President, and several new officers will join the board, so if you are unable to attend the Installation Party on January 19, please come to our next meeting on February 6th. to meet the new slate of officers

Small pot. Was won by Henning Buus, who donated his share back to our Small Pot Fund

Big pot: had the following members been present, they could have won the $100.00 Tage Christiansen, Peder B Nielsen, Anne Hollister, Elmer Wittman or Melanie Berg, but now the pot grows to 200 for the February meeting                                            Meeting adjourned @ 8.17 pm                                       Submitted by Frank Poulsen, Secretary

vvCome early and enjoy snacks and drinks before the next meetingvv

DANISH CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY: The Brotherhood and Sisterhood's annual Christmas Party for children, was held on Sunday, December 9th.  As usual, it was a very festive occasion, with lots of entertainment including singing and dancing around the tree. Santa was there with treats for the kids. Many thanks to the Committee headed by Anne Hollister and Gayle Emmick.  Applause to Ellen Rossen and Lyla Jacobsen for leading the tree ceremonies.  After the fun, refreshments were served for kids and adults.

Unfortunately, this year’s event had fewer participants but Santa’s leftover goodie bags were donated to a Children’s Home in Everett which brightened the day for others.
